I started my design career in industrial design, focusing on promotional products. I worked for two major companies in the field, Brindz and The Marketing Store, which produced items in various countries.
Our workflow usually began with a client briefing, followed by market research, concept development, and alignment. From there, we created 3D models and, when needed, physical prototypes for client presentations.
The entire concept was developed in Brazil, while most of the production was handled in China.
I would sketch out ideas in a simple way just to communicate the concept, then move on to 3D modeling using tools like SolidWorks, ZBrush, or Softimage. I used KeyShot for rendering. Sometimes, to get a better sense of the product, I’d 3D print a prototype right at my desk. That helped me quickly see what was working and what still needed adjustments.
I worked on a variety of projects for clients like Disney, McDonald’s, Shell, Lojas Americanas, Heineken, AB InBev, Diageo, and many others.
Below you can see some of the concepts I worked on. The last one, a Hello Kitty ice cream cart for an Easter egg promotion, was a particularly interesting case. It was such a success that the concept was later replicated at the point of sale, and even kids on YouTube made review videos of the toy.
